Privacy policy
This Privacy Policy explains how and what information we collect from visitors to our website.
Retraite en Silence, located at 189 Route de la Croix de Cubières, 09130 Durfort, France, acts as the data controller for personal data processed in connection with this website and our activities.
What information do we collect about you?
When you visit our site, we only collect the following information: the pages you visit, your IP address, and an identification of your browser and computer type. For example, a Telenet customer visited the website using Chrome on a mobile device. Another visitor was a KPN Netherlands customer and used the Firefox browser on Windows 10. In addition, the website uses cookies to recognize you on subsequent visits. These are small text files stored on your device that your browser sends with each visit. These contain information such as your preferred language or a unique visitor number that is automatically assigned to you.
If you are a customer of ours, we also collect your contact and billing information for this purpose. You provide these yourself when placing an order.
In addition, the website uses cookies to recognize you on subsequent visits. These are small text files that are stored on your device and sent by your browser each time you visit. They contain information such as your preferred language or a unique visitor ID that is automatically assigned to you.
The personal data we may process include, in particular: first name, last name, address, email address, telephone number, billing information, communication data, registration details and, where voluntarily provided, health information that may be relevant to ensuring safe participation in a retreat.

Retraite en Silence determines the purposes and means of processing your personal data and is therefore the data controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
How do we collect this information?
You share this information with us yourself, so it comes directly from you. By ordering from us, you give us permission to collect it. Your browser sends data about which browser and device type you use, as well as the “cookies.” We receive your IP address directly from your computer.
We process your personal data on the basis of several legal grounds:
- the performance of a contract when you book a retreat, activity or service with us;
- compliance with legal obligations, such as accounting and tax obligations;
- your consent where legally required, for example for certain cookies or newsletters;
- our legitimate interest in improving our website, services and communication.
Why do we collect this information and how do we use it?
We want to be able to contact our customers to send you correct invoices or to provide support. We also use certain information (browser, unique identifier, number of times a link in our newsletter is clicked) to improve our site and newsletter or to correctly analyze any problems. These cookies are used to provide site functionality, such as staying logged in or choosing your language. Information about your page visits helps us improve the site and analyze and resolve potential problems with the web application.
Health information voluntarily provided by participants is processed only when necessary to ensure the safety and proper organisation of the retreat. This information is considered special category personal data under the GDPR and is only accessible to persons who need this information for this specific purpose.
How long do we retain your data?
We do not retain data longer than necessary. For website visitors, this is 5 years. We retain customer account information for as long as legally required.
Any health-related information voluntarily provided by participants will be used solely to ensure the safety and proper organization of the stay and will not be retained for longer than necessary.
Who do we share this information with?
We use most of this information ourselves and do not share it with anyone. Visitor analysis on the public website is also performed by an external company. They receive your IP address, the identifier sent by your browser, an identification cookie, and the pages you visit on our site. We also use an external tool to generate our invoices. The latter will, of course, only have access to the data necessary to create correct invoices and purchase orders.
What rights do I have?
The GDPR puts you first as an individual and grants you several rights. For example, you have the right to access the data we hold about you and to correct (or have corrected) incorrect data. You can also ask us to erase data and object to the transfer of your data to third parties. If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please contact us by email or in writing.
You can delete the “cookies” that identify you through your browser settings. You can also set it to not use cookies at all. However, certain parts of the website or application may not function correctly.
Please note that your right to be forgotten does not override certain legal or contractual obligations. For example, we must be able to contact our customers at any time and we must comply with French accounting requirements. If you believe your rights have been violated, you can lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In France, this is the CNIL (Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés).
